Darwin Deez - Up In The Clouds NME single review

Darwin Deez’s track Up In The Clouds has all the makings of the perfect summer tune. With its choppy guitar riffs, comforting melodies and playground beats, it’s easy to picture yourself listening to it, whilst relaxing with a cold bevvy somewhere in the sun.

His indie-pop sound is a mixture of Paulo Nutini and The Beach Boys, sounds like an interesting combination but it sort of works. Unfortunately the tracks lack of ambition and originality leaves you wanting but not in a good way. Perhaps his on stage synchronized dance routines make up for what the music is lacking.

Leeds Summer Ball

Leeds is known across the UK for having one of the most established music and nightclub scenes, so it would be embarrassing for the summer ball not to live up to expectations.
The 2010 summer ball on June 4th is taking place at Lotherton Hall.. which is basically a massive field just outside Leeds. There are four main arenas which are decked out with state of the art production and lighting. There is also a free funfair, which always goes down a treat, seating, bars, and food stalls.

With the ticket that cost £42 students are entitled to free transport to and from the ball, entry to all tents, and a night to put in the scrap book.

The line up this year has proven to be better then ever with headliners Florence and The Machine. (Below is the full line up)

Technique & Asylum - Garden Party

Sunday 30th is part II of Favershams legendary garden parties.
The sold out event is known for its incredible atmosphere and music, and is the ideal way to spend the May Bank holiday.
Resident Advisor head to Leeds to team up with Technique & Asylum in hope to create a day to remember. With Faversham's new layout and Funktion One sound system music is sounding better then ever. The out doors will be fully extended to cater for the hundreds of Leeds students that will be there on the day for 2pm onwards.
Although the event is sold out tickets will be sold on the door, so get down early to make sure you don't miss out.
